Money is Emotional Prevent Your Heart From Hijacking Your Wallet eBook Christine Luken Reviews
This slim book is a must-read for anyone who feels mystified by money, whether you are a college grad just starting out or already deep into your adulthood. Christine's personal story of near fatal financial ruin makes you realize it could happen to anyone regardless of background and education. And gives you the faith and the strategy to climb back out (or avoid it altogether).
Yes, money IS emotional and Christine acknowledges that fact and then goes on to remove the "scary" from personal finance and replace it with practices that are doable and simply make sense. The accompanying workbook enables the reader to easily put into practice the concepts that apply specifically to his or her own situation.
I have long wished that our public schools taught students how to budget, understand a mortgage, and how to save. If everyone in America had a copy of this book there would be fewer bankruptcies and foreclosures. And many more people enjoying a comfortable retirement.
I had a budget but always went over anyway. Christine Luken teaches you how not to make that emotional purchase and makes you understand how to spot them. Easy to read, short chapters.
Christine's wealth of knowledge and experience with providing clear guidance into financial wellbeing make her extremely creditable, wise, realistic and most of all approachable and practical. Thank you Christine for sharing your heart, passion, personal journey and resources with us. Bring her into your life and into your workplace wellness programs. You'll thank You AND Christine!
Like so many things in life, budgeting is simple, but not easy. Money is Emotional is a powerful tool that helped me gain clarity on money and its impact on my current life and the life I want to live. The real-life case studies and the author's own life experience illustrate so clearly the way we can all make emotional decisions that impact our short and long-term financial health. Getting a better understanding of my relationship with money (yes, that's a thing!), has helped bring my budget and goals into alignment. My husband and I intend to use the workbook each year as we review our current-year financial successes and plan our 1-year, 5-year and 10+ goals!
As someone who has always struggled in one way or another with finances. Money is Emotional has taken a subject that can be stressful and hard to talk about and made it downright simple. Christine Luken comes at it from a personal, "Been there, done that!" perspective that I could relate to in ways nothing else I've read has. She gives practical tips that can be put into action right away. I keep going back over it and reviewing them because they just make sense! I highly recommend this book, and especially if you haven't yet learned that money is indeed emotional. It will really open your eyes! - Kari McDaniel
Money is one of those topics that no one likes to talk about. As a society, we are taught not to talk about it and not to ask for help. Christine Luken is the first step to break down barriers and help people become financially healthy. Money is Emotional is not only a tool to help individuals become financially healthy, it helps the reader to find the root cause that is their money trouble. Christine's open and honest discussion of her own personal story truly helps readers to know that they are not alone. Christine is here to help. She doesn't just give advice. She has lived through the struggles of living paycheck to paycheck and has come out the other side to help others. It is a valuable read for everyone, whether or not you are struggling financially. There is no question that money is emotional.
I absolutely love this book, it was an easy read that keep me engaged and highlighting things to remember or try. The only thing that I don't like is the EMOTIONAL side of money is really only discussed in the first half of the book (I am being generous). The bulk of the book is made up of very helpful tips, techniques and financial best practices. However, I rated it a 5 because it deserves it and I would recommend it to anyone.
